Based on the anime series and shōnen manga ‘Fairy Tail’ by Hiro Mashima, Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry was released in May this year. The film is a Japanese animated action fantasy film directed by Tatsuma Minawikama. Tetsuya Kakihara, Rie Kugimiya, Aya Hirano, Yuichi Nakamura, Sayaka , Satomi Satō, and Yui Horie come back to reprise their roles from the TV series. Funimation released the English version of the film in the United States.

Released in January this year (Japanese version), Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic is a Japanese animation based on the Yana Tobosco’s Black Butler Japanese manga series. Produced by A1 – Pictures and directed by Noriyuki Abe, the film features character designs by Minako Shiba and music by Yasunori Mitsuda. The cast from the anime’s TV series has reprises their voice roles for the film.

Bunyan and Babe, released in February this year, is a computer animation feature, loosely based on the folklore of Paul Bunyan. The film stars John Goodman and Jeff Foxworthy as the lead characters. Bunyan and Babe premiered on Google play, where it was available to watch for free when it released.

Loving Vincent is the worlds very first fully hand painted film! It is scheduled for a theatrical release in October. The film is a biographical animation, of the life of Vincent Van Gogh. DorotaKobiela and Hugh Welchman directed and wrote the screenplay for the film and the entire film’s funding was taken care of by the Polish Film Institute.

Released in January this year, Sahara is a French Canadian 3D animated film produced by StudioCanal and Mandarin Films. Coco is an upcoming computer animation film scheduled to release in October this year. The film is a comedy musical based off of the ‘Day of the dead’ holiday celebrated in Mexico.
Produced by Pixar, and directed by Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina, the studio began work on Coco in 2016.
