The Big Bad Fox and other tales

The Big Bad Fox and other talesThe Big Bad Fox and other tales is a French animation, released in June this year and produced by Folivari. The feature is directed by Benjamin Renner and Patrick Imbert. Guillaume Darnault, Damien Wietecka, Kamel Abdessadok, Antoine Schoumsky and Christophe Lemoine are some of the French actors who have lent their voices for the film.

The movie is divided into three connecting episodes, and revolves around animals that go on adventures! Episode one recalls a fox who ends up mothering baby chicks! The second tale  focuses on a rabbit that must now become a stork and the third is of a duck who would like to replace Father Christmas!

The feature is entirely a 2D hand drawn animation with soft lines and rough edges making it dynamic, yet playful. Pair this up with the upbeat music score, lively voice cast and wacky storyline, and it’s a hit!

Almost like a cartoonists sketchpad in live motion, that characters features are only rendered a bit in the film. They mostly stick to the original drawings made for the film. Robert Marcel Lepage scored the film. The feature is a family entertainment and is quite humorous. The film can be best described as visual art at its best.

The film ends with all the major characters coming back on ‘stage’ to take a bow. Quirky, yet effective.
