Ali Soozandeh’s Tehran Taboo is a German – Austrian animation. It was screen at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. This film is the first feature film written and directed by Ali Soozandeh and stars Jasmina Ali, FarhadAbadinejad and Rozita Assadollahy amongst others.

The film focuses on four young individuals from Tehran, Iran, a prostitute, two women and a male musician who are forced to break through the taboos and restrictive laws surrounding the Islamic Society.
The theme of the film revolves around sexual and personal freedom in Iran, where women are victimized no matter what their marital status may be. The movie tries to reveal the religious and political oppression of personal privacy in Iranand border lines on being a very audacious film debut.
The film has received praise for its script and the clarity in its storyline. The striking animation makes used of broad brushstrokes. Little Dream Entertainment produced the film and the music and scoring was done by Ali N. Askin.
The movie emphasizes on exhibiting the repressive norms and social laws that still prevail in Tehran. The characters in the film portray some of the thought processes that possibly play out in real life scenarios in Iran, with people desperately going against the law. Ali Soozandeh being a German resident, now allows him to speak up, the movie being a result of exactly that.
