Raining Cats and FrogsDirector Jacques-Rémy Girerd’s ‘La Prophétie des grenouilles’ is a French award winning children’s animated film released in 2003.


The English version of the film was distributed worldwide as ‘Raining Cats and Frogs’ by Universal Pictures.Artists like Michel Piccoli, Anouk Grinberg and Annie Girardot gave their voices to the characters.
The story is loosely based on American folk painter Edward Hicks’s famous painting ‘Noah’s Ark’. The film shows a catastrophe hit the planet and how the animals and humans survive from it with the help of Ferdinand the farmer, the present-day Noah.The frogs start toagitate as they foresee a big flood coming. ‘Noah’, his family and all the animals must now indulge in a whirlpool of an adventure to survive.
The Folimage animation studio produced this film using traditional animation technique. The entire film is created with hand-made paintings and sketches. Each and every painting comprises of different and continued movements of the characters and background. All the paintings were put sequentially and edited using the stop motion technique. This is the first feature film produced by Folimage studio.
The film is largely edited in Adobe Flash software by HervéGuichard. The original version of the film was distributed by Studio Canal. This film was awarded as the best feature picture at the fourth International Festival of Animated Feature Films.
