KochadaiiyaanEros International’sproduction ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ is the first fully C.G stereoscopic 3D film released in India.


This Tamil blockbuster is directed by SaundaryaRajnikaanth Ashwin. The film stars Rajnikaanth and Deepika Padukone in the lead. Maestro A.R. Rehman composed the music and tracks for the film.
The movie revolves around revenge. The film shows how a mighty warrior Rana (Rajnikaanth) fights to restore his father Kochadaiiyaan’s lost glory. This is a story of a conflict between two warrior kingdoms Kalingpura and Kottaipattanam.
This is the first movie in India that used motion capture. Motion capture technique uses a big sat nerve system or digital markersplaced on the body that are actually cars and cameras around the studio. These are like satellites that track the movements and camera angles. This film is a result of photorealistic performance capture technology that was done with actor’s performance with 40 cameras shooting at the same time and translated the real performance into digital image.
The production team has used helmet cameras on all the principal actors to get full detail of all their facial expressions captured.Especially for Rajnikaanth, the team had to tighten his3D model face using software to make him look 25-year youngers.More than 150 artists were behind the project that includes 42 students from the Govt. College of Fine Arts, Chennai.
