Bahubali: The Beginning

bahubaliThis 2015 South Indian blockbuster action film Bahubali is considered as the most expensive motion picture in the history of Indian cinema till date. Directed by S.S Rajamouli, the film stars famous South Indian actors like Prabhas, Rana Daggubatti, Anushka Shetty, Tamannah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan and more.
The story revolves around the life of a prince with god-like strength.The princewas smuggled out of his kingdomcalled Maheshmatias a baby after his father’s assassination. He was found and raised by a tribal family from a small village located at the foot of a waterfall.He always wanted to trek the dangerous waterfall as he was curious to see what is there on top.
He finally manages to reach the top of the waterfall and meets the love of his life. Gradually, with the help of that girl he reaches Maheshmati and meets his real mother who is a queen and prisoner of the king called Bhallala Deva for more than 20 years. He fought with the king’s army and rescues her. As he has the same face like his real father, his uncle Katappa recognizes him and starts telling him the entire story behind the injustice to his family.
S.S Rajamouli’s movies have always been visually rich and technically sound with glitzy visual effects.The film has used blue screens for a lot of scenes like the protagonist treks a waterfall and the war scenes. The film makes use of around 4500 VFX shots.
The trailer of Bahubali is deceptive. It gives the impression that this film is just a platform to test drive innovations in VFX. High end graphics and visuals along with gigantic sets and grand production design made the budget of this film so high. Apart from the human characters, most of the elements on screen are made virtually at the time of editing. From the movements of the elephants and horses to the movements of the arrows, all are work of visual effects. The cinematography has a big role to play in the movie. The visual effects in the movie are realistic and done by professionals.
